Boulder County Cities
Boulder County consists of eleven cities and many unincorporated areas, particularly in the canyons west of Boulder City. Below is a map to help you get oriented with each of the cities and shows them in relation to driving distance from Boulder City. Boulder County City Stats
Boulder
Boulder is a college town and sits right along the foothills. It is a city that prides itself on open space and healthy living. Downtown is filled with shops and restaurants and busy nearly every time of the year. Boulder is home to about 100,000 residents of which about 30,000 are students. Home prices are some of the highest along the Front Range and remain strongest during any economic downturn.

Nederland
Nederland is a charming mountain town and home to Eldora Ski Resort. It has some of the best high county hiking close to Boulder with miles of back county trails and alpine lakes. For those who want to escape the rush of city living, breath in fresh mountain air every day, but still want to live close conveniences like a grocery store, Nederland is a great option.

Ward
Ward is a former mining town filled with residents that many would self-describe as ornery. At 9,450’, Ward experiences long winters, poorly plowed roads, massive snow dumps, and sometimes intermittent phone and internet service. These inconveniences however are made up by having easy access to incredible back country trails that are fun to explore all year long.

Jamestown
Jamestown has the feeling of a remote mountain town yet is only about 15 minutes to North Boulder. Nestled in the canyons, homes are surrounds by tall pines and some are situated right along James Creek, which runs through the town. Jamestown is a nice compromise for those who want to feel like they are living in a more remote area yet remain close to everyday conveniences.

Lyons
Lyons evokes a feel of small town, mountain living, while having a vibrant downtown. The town has access to miles of trails and is just 20 miles east of beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. The town is also home to the annual Rocky Grass blues music festival.

Niwot
Niwot is a small but growing town in between Boulder and Longmont. It has a quaint downtown and is great for those who want to quickly hop on a bike trail or for those who still prefer living in a city yet appreciate a smaller town feel.

Longmont
Longmont is a city that has experienced a big uptick in residents and businesses over the past few years as Boulder has become more expensive. It’s a town of almost 100,000 with a suburban feel and lots of parks, shops, restaurants, and entertainment.

Erie has a cute downtown area, lots of parks, and new developments popping up frequently. It is home to the annual hot air balloon festival and champion golf course, Colorado National Golf Club.

Lafayette is a charming, small town with a high quality of life. It has an extensive parks system, unique downtown filled with art, restaurants, and coffee shops, and many bike paths.

Louisville
Louisville is considered one of the best places to live in the country and has a very strong housing market. The town has a charming, unique downtown with businesses residing in historic buildings while other areas of the city have modern, chain stores that many have come to expect. Summers are especially enjoyable as the city hosts outdoors concerts and a thriving farmer’s market.
